Lifelong Faith Formation in the Montelores Catholic Community aims to provide activities for learning and living our faith for all ages . With a focus on multi generational interaction and whole community involvement, we strive to bring our Faith to the children, the youth, the young adults, the parents, and the senior members of our community.
We will be starting a pre-school Faith-Filled Reading Hour this year. Designed to help young parents find the time, energy, and resources to begin reading Catholic Christian stories about the saints, biblical characters, Jesus, and Catholic lifestyle choices to their infant and pre-school children, we hope to involve other young parents and possibly our high school youth in this endeavor. Watch for details as we plan for the future!
Our Religious Education program, called LIFT – Living In Faith Together – for grades K-5, offers age appropriate catechesis as well as involving the children in specific liturgies and other church and community activities. LIFT classes are held almost every Wednesday evening at Saint Margaret Mary hall from 5:45 to 7:00 from mid September to mid May. Parents are asked to stay during classes, help with snacks and help in the classrooms; coffee is always available. This builds stronger communities and stronger families.
Our middle school EDGE and high school LIFETEEN groups meet every Sunday evening from 6:00 to 8:00pm immediately following the 5:00pm Mass at Saint Margaret Mary, September thru June and intermittently throughout the summer. EDGE and LIFETEEN are a nationwide movement, working together, bringing youth to the Lord thru praise and worship, adoration, community involvement, volunteerism, prayer and social activities. Please see the Youth website, www.stmargaretmaryyouth.org for more information.
OCI – Order of Christian Initiation – is RCIA for adults and children. Our RCIA preparation is continuous and ongoing meeting throughout most of the year on Sundays before 10:30 Mass for children and after 10:30 Mass for adults. Following the guidelines and format presented by The North American Forum On The Catechumenate, this is a wonderfully exciting journey not only for those interested in becoming full members of the Catholic Church, but for the catechists, returning Catholics, active Catholics, or anyone interested in knowing more about the faith. Parents and/or sponsors are asked to attend all meetings and functions.
Twice a year we have a Spiritual Walk with our returning college students and other single parishioners ages 18 to 25. Prayer, faith sharing, contemplation, fellowship, and walking fill the day as the Spirit fills our hearts.
VacationBibleSchool– VBS – is offered each summer however the dates change each year depending on other parish activities. Adult as well as teen youth leadership makes this event an exciting multigenerational experience and a lot of fun for our pre-school and grade school kids.
Adult Bible studies are offered throughout the year, some led by laity, some led by a priest.
Adult retreats, and catechetical retreats and conferences are held within the deanery.
