Sacramental Preparation

Sacramental Preparation activities to prepare people to receive some of the Sacraments of the Catholic Church are listed below.

BAPTISM    Infant Baptism preparation classes for parents are arranged thru the church office.  Infant Baptism is considered ages newborn thru age 6, while children’s baptism is considered ages 7 thru 15 and these children must participate in children’s RCIA.

RECONCILIATION    (Confession) –  and EUCHARIST   (Holy Communion) –  First Reconciliation and First Eucharist preparation classes are offered to children during their 2nd grade year with the expectation that all children experience appropriate catechesis and celebration of these sacraments by the completion of their 5th grade year.  Though these two sacraments are closely linked, they are completely separate, with different preparation class schedules and different celebration dates, keeping the distinction between the two vey clear.  The family must be regularly attending Mass, the child must have been attending LIFT for at least 1 year prior to celebrating these sacraments, and parent or guardian must attend all classes with the child.  First Reconciliation classes usually begin in early January, and First Eucharist classes usually begin in mid March.  Both meet 6 times with both preparation class schedules meeting on Saturday mornings 10:00 to 12:00.  Dates and other information will be on the church calendar, in the bulletin, and distributed during LIFT classes.

CONFIRMATION  preparation will begin in September.  Youth wishing to celebrate the Sacrament of Confirmation must have been baptized Catholic, celebrated First Reconciliation and First Eucharist, been actively involved in CYCLE for 2 years, have an easily accessible godparent or sponsor, be regularly attending Mass, understand and fully desire the graces conferred at Confirmation, and be dedicated to living a Christ-centered life through the Catholic Church.  There is also a mandatory Confirmation retreat weekend.

SACRAMENTAL MARRIAGE  preparation is arranged through the church office.
